Opera

While watching Il Trovatore the other day, it occurred to me why people have difficulty with opera as drama. A lot of drama people watch these days is propelled by action. Opera is propelled by emotion. Characters go from scene to scene, singing about their emotions. It requires the viewer (or listener) to change there viewpoint and try to feel-along with the characters. This is something most be people are not used to doing.
